This page explains what PriceUP collects, why we collect it, and how BDTracks uses that information to power local price transparency, AI insights, and shopper guidance.
BDTracks ("we," "us," or "our") operates the PriceUP mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information in connection with our website, mobile applications, APIs, and other services (collectively, the "Services").
By using PriceUP, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information Collection and Use
1.1 Personal Information You Provide
- Account Registration: Name, email address, password (hashed), and optional profile details.
- User Submissions: Price reports, corrections, and community forum posts. This data is collected "as is" at the point of entry by the user.
1.2 Mobile Device Permissions
To provide the core functionality of PriceUP, we request the following permissions:
- Location Data: We request access to your Geo-location to show commodity prices in your immediate vicinity, provide navigation to stores, and verify the authenticity of price submissions at local "bazaars."
- Camera and Media Access: We request access to your Camera and Photo Gallery solely to allow you to upload photos of price tags or receipts for verification.
Metadata Notice: Please be aware that photos you upload may contain embedded metadata (such as EXIF data including location and time). We may process this metadata to verify the accuracy and location of the price report.
1.3 Automatically Collected Data
- Usage & Technical Data: IP address, device type, operating system, and session durations to optimize app performance and security.
1.4 Aggregation of Public Information & AI-Derived Data
Our Services rely heavily on automated data processing and Artificial Intelligence:
- Public Sources: We perform automated aggregation of publicly available data from official sources, including the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the Agriculture Service Portal, and public news articles.
- AI/LLM Processing: We use Large Language Models (LLMs) to perform market analytics and extract pricing trends from public news articles. This information is processed to provide you with insights and forecasts.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Service Delivery: To authenticate users, present hyperlocal price maps, and provide price alerts.
- Market Analytics: To generate automated reports and insights based on news extraction and crowdsourced data.
- Analytics & B2B Insights: We aggregate and anonymize price data to provide market intelligence to researchers and institutions. Your personal identity is never shared in these datasets.
- Security & Fraud Prevention: To monitor for suspicious activity and prevent fraudulent price submissions. We utilize automated threshold triggers and validation logic to identify and flag data that appears false, anomalous, or outside of reasonable market parameters.
3. Data Accuracy & AI Disclaimer
- Data "AS IS": All data from aggregated public sources (TCB, Agriculture Service Portal, news sites), user-reported inputs, and data transformed by our LLM processes is provided "AS IS," without warranty of any kind.
- AI/LLM Risk & Analytics: Users acknowledge that AI-derived market analytics, news extractions, and price forecasts may contain inaccuracies or "hallucinations." BDTracks does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated insights.
5. Data Retention & Deletion Rights
We respect your right to control your personal data. Below are instructions on how to request deletion of specific data or your entire account.
How to Request Data Deletion
Option A: Delete Specific Data (Without Deleting Your Account)
If you wish to remove specific price reports you've submitted without deleting your PriceUP account:
- In-App: Open the PriceUP app, navigate to Profile > Submission History, and tap the trash/delete icon next to the specific record you wish to remove. The record will be deleted immediately.
- Via Email: Send an email to support@bdtracks.com specifying the exact data you want removed. We will process this within 5 business days.
Option B: Delete Your Entire Account
If you wish to delete your account and all associated personal data:
- In-App: Open the PriceUP app, navigate to Profile > Settings > Help & Support > Contact Support. Choose "Account Deletion Request" from the dropdown and submit the form.
- Via Email: Send an email to support@bdtracks.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" from the email address associated with your account.
What Data is Deleted
Upon verifying your account deletion request, we will delete the following personal information within 30 days:
- Your Name and Email Address
- Your Account Password/Authentication credentials
What Data is Retained (Anonymized)
To preserve the integrity of our market analytics and historical price tracking services, the following data is retained but permanently aggregated and stripped of any identifiers linking it to you:
- Price submissions and reports you have made (unless individually deleted beforehand)
- General usage analytics and crash logs (retained up to 24 months for security purposes)
6. Data Security
We employ industry-standard safeguards, including TLS encryption for data in transit and role-based access controls. However, no system is 100% secure; please protect your account with a strong password.
7. Removal Requests & Copyright
BDTracks respects the intellectual property and database rights of others. If you believe we have stored or processed content in a manner that infringes your rights, please email legal@bdtracks.com. We will investigate and remove infringing material promptly.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
